I really would prefer to continue basing it on Matt's scheduler patches. Reason
for that is that all drivers that require this patch need Matt's patches as
well. The only thing we'd achieve is that people (including me) need to either
rebase Matt's patches onto this one or the other way around themselfs. This
would simply be wasted effort and in case this patch lands before Matt's series,
he'd also need to wrap his head around this patch as well. Hence, let's keep it
simple. If you agree, for the next version I will simply also push a branch with
this patch at its HEAD such that it becomes easy checking the patch out.

Otherwise, the other comments look good, gonna address them in the next version.
