Well, trunk kernel modules won't compile, but bsd-2-0-0-branch will usually 
compile and run most of the cards (rage128 is really slow, and i810 is not 
supported).  I have patches for compiling the kernel modules, and a port of 
them, up at my webpage: http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~eanholt/dri/

I also will have patches up for the non-kernel part of the build really soon 
now.
