You're right. It was a recent change in Debian's libc6 package (which contains ldconfig) - see changelog.Debian for 2.2.4-5. At least for Debian unstable, I'll gladly retract my first statement. I should have rechecked before making that claim based on my memories from pre-2.2.4-5-days :-) (anyway, I'm also using a testing/unstable hybrid, and libc6 was pinned to testing - so I just got the changed libc6 a few days ago when it entered testing) Well, great.
