Whoooops, it appears to me that this fixes the FlightGear lockups. I did
several tries of my usually reliable 'test routine' (starting with a viev
straight out of the B747 cockpit) and it did _not_ crash the server until
now. I'll try further.

If this proves to be real maybe someone should contribute this as a patch
against XFree86-4.3-branch ....  ;-)
