Clarification here: I said something which didn't cover the ground very well. You'd probably want something more like


radeon;pci:0000:01:01.1;1024x768

You'd want to identify which subdevice of which card was involved. I don't know how far this would go, but without identifying the specific device, it'd be pretty useless.
