I think this problem DVI-related. Until I or someone else can show the
problem is with the r300 code you should leave this alone.
You can try to resize the screen to check whether this problem occurs in
2d as well. (You can use xrandr or KDE resize app for that).
I tried KDE and I found no problems resizing.
