Don't ask, the answer might be no. :)

The D-STAR logo does not seem to have (R) or (C) emblems which should be 
there if the logo is internationally protected by copyrights or is 
registered trademark.

IF it would be protected, there should be already quite good knowledge 
of such, as for a official logo property of someone has usually also 
graphical guidelines regarding the positioning, surroundings and 
limitations of the usage. I've seen the D-STAR logo attached to several 
other logos and backgroups, which are usually very no-no by the guidelines.
