UR=/XNXXX C where XNXXX is the call sign of the distant repeater, C is the
module in the 8th character position and the '/' distinguishes the call
sign from that of an individual station and that of a repeater.

This is not mentioned in the readme text file link I sent because this is
native to DSTAR and not DPLUS, which is an add on to the DSTAR protocol.

You should get an UR* or YOUR response depending on the model of radio you
use for a successful (far end not busy) call. Also if the far end is linked
using DPLUS you call will also go to stations in the link. Their reply will
not go back to you, however, unless they capture your call sign, hence when
I source route I announce "please capture my call or set UR=my repeater to
reply"

Unlike DPLUS, leave the UR=/XNXXX C for the duration of the call.

Unfortunately many have forgotten how to use DSTAR without DPLUS linking.
