Many thanks to everyone. The discussion remarks have been helpful and insightful. Based on the discussion, it seems the three most substantial issues which limit universal adoptance of DUNDi are the following:
1. DUNDi does not solve the simple problem of who is authoritative for which numbers. 2. The trust required by a DUNDi peering agreement, does not scale to very large groups. 3. The DUNDI protocol does not provide accountability. At a minimum, you need to be able to follow the trust chain to see which peer is offering to accept a given call from you (so that if it fails or is misdirected you can notify the peer who claims to trust them) and you also need to be able to follow the trust chain if someone is sending bogus calls to you (again so you can notify the peer who trusts them). Does anyone disagree? Are there any other issues that have been overlooked? Thank you, Jim D. _______________________________________________ Dundi mailing list [email protected] http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/dundi
