I'd personally disagree with the recommendation of any version of System
7.5, by the way. Use 7.1 with the various bells & whistles that came in
with its later versions (Drag & Drop, Finder Scripting Extension, Thread
Manager), plus the freeware versions of things like WindowShade, and
you'll
have a faster, significantly slimmer System that will do pretty much all
the same stuff, and probably be more stable.

=============== back to the subject at hand ==============
I am using Duo 230, 16 MB installed RAM, 80 MB original drive
system 7.1 Eudora Pro 3.1
when docked, have SCSI chain, and hae Virtualmemonry on, with the VM
residing on one of the external drives, and boot fromsomething other than
the Duo drive.
I use BBEdit Lite as my main word-processor -- loads as quickly as
SimpleText but with lots of useful features. when i asctually need more
powerin word Processing I use Microsoft Word 5.1.a, though i rarely use it
for short documents. My resume is in it,that's enoug reason to keepit.
I plan to get full vesion of BBEdit because I am so impressed with lite.
Use eudora Pro BUT often Telent first for reading mail. (better telnet)
and delete a lot beore downloading. Eudor Folder resies on external
drive. Eudora folder i bigger than 8 MB <g> lots of mai l. coudn't have
thatmuchpaper mail. woud drown.
i amnot hapy with browser - woud welcomesugestions. using netscape 2.02.
too manysudden quits, after it is not java-enbled. ae there extensions i
ca add to 7.1 to alow it to be java-enabled?
alternate browser is MacWeb _ I used it before netscape. It can be set up
to be pretty much text only, whichmeans fast loading. you do lose a ot,
but if i want a specific page, it is helpful. i.e. when netscape qus,
SOMETIMES i wuld have to re-boot to relaunch netscape.
using macTCP and Interslip (not PPP) whichI really like. omly reason
to change it is ISP tech support more familiar with others.
Ihave finally gotena faster modem taht ISp knows how tosuport (rationale
forchoosig that brand) but hvent installed itye.wheni o, i would go toPP
agai because of ISP.
PLEASE POST BROWSER RECOMMENDATIONS for system 7.1 ;-)
thanks.

Judith Winter
