I don't have 2400 (my duo is a 280c), but I have PB 3400c which I
believe share same kind of architecture as the 2400c, but of course the
processor is not upgradable, oh well... but I run Digital Performer,
DECK II, and several shareware/freeware audio apps. I own a small
Production, we do jingles, company profiles, pre-mastering, etc

There is a professional solution for this particular matter. You can add
a studio quality audio I/O to your powerbook via PCMCIA card called VX
Pocket. I've never heard the audio quality of this card, but on paper it
is quite impressive. Balanced I/O with 24 bit capabilities and S/N ratio
88dB. Check out www.digigram.com for more info. The VX Pocket PCMCIA
card are said to be fully compatible with 2400c, 3400c, and PowerBook
G3s. It's quite pricey though, about US$680. Anyway, if you're looking
for professional audio I/O solution on PowerBook I believe this is the
one. Oh yeah, it has digital ins and outs as well. Maybe I'll get one of
these soon, and when I do, I'll post my review to the list (if it's OK),
but once again I don't have 2400 so I'll put the VX Pocket card on 3400c
machine.
