For what it's worth:
When I had a 280c, I was a happy camper with the trackball. So, when
I got a 2300c, I took the guts (logic board, ram, modem,HD) out of the
2300c and put them into the 280c case. True, I didn't upgrade my
screen, but there's nothing wrong with the 280c screen. So I have a
2300c in a 280c case. We jokingly call it a 2800c. : )

You can also buy a trackball "Downgrade" kit from the list sponsor.
