Marc,
If you're good with your fingers and careful about keeping track of screws,
you should be able to handle replacing the HD yourself.
There is a great PB 2400 disassembly photo sequence at the following URL:
<http://members.aol.com/kim/computer/duo/2400cpu/2400upgrade.html>
I was going to post this to the list after somebody asked about "2400 guts"
photos, but then they got it figured out. Anyway, I think these pix should
be mirrored on the PB 2400 web site. I always forget exactly how to find
them, and I end up doing the same Google search each time.
I went through this process of replacing the HD myself, and it was
relatively painless. Then again, I thought it was relatively painless
replacing the engine wire harness on my '83 Volvo 240 turbo as well... In
replacing the HD on my 2400, it was useful for me to keep all my screws on
pieces of tape, grouped according to what step in the disassembly they were
from.
Good luck!
