I vote for Dantz's Disk Fit Direct. It erases the destination disk before backup to
help assure their won't be any media errors. Then even if their is an error,
it provides an alternative to aborting the whole backup.

I'm not sure the much ballyhooed "Redux" program does this. Redux
also has a manual one has to download and read with Acrobat Reader.
Disk Fit Direct has the directions built right into the program.
