Dear Dx4win Users' Group,

I agree with John, W9ILY. Spot membership information should be imported
into the QSO window to be permanently recorded with the contact.

It is QSL time for 2010 ARRL DXCW and DXSSB. So far, 30% of my DX contacts
from these two events have been confirmed in LoTW. I too, would like a way
to permanently record a station's LoTW status. Later I can review the QSO
and the Awards data base, then decide to wait some more for LoTW
confirmation; send my card and SAE with green stamps direct to the DX or a
SASE to the U.S. QSL Manager rather than wait; or, simply send a stamped QSL
card or use ARRL's Outgoing QSL Service. As great is Dx4win V8.3 is , there
is still room for improvement to help the QSL process. Guy, Jim, Paul - how
about it?

Now for the editorials. Hopefully more DX contesters will see the advantage
of joining LoTW since it is clear to me S&P operators will increasingly
focus on DX calls followed by "L". However, there is the other side of the
coin that says, "the QSL card is the final courtesy of the QSO". OK, anyone
that wishes to send a courtesy card in addition to LoTW confirmation can do
so direct where necessary or through ARRL's Outgoing QSL service, and the
recipient will likely send a replay via the Bureau. Finally, RSGB has yet
to agree to allow LoTW confirmation for IOTA credit. ARRL tells me they are
agreeable, so the ball is in the Brit's court! Meanwhile, a card from the
IOTA entity is still required for submission by those chasing an IOTA award.

73,

Al - K5NOF
