Hi John, You are 100% right: I tried and it works! Thanks! I was always afraid to just "save" it (under the source name) after creating the selection and seeing that the number of QSOs listed after selection has decreased. I thought that saving would cause my source log name now becoming a different, shortened version containing only selected groups. It is a pity that it is not explained so clearly in the Help file..

Your log does not change size, you see fewer QSO's because you have made a filter. Turn it off and all the QSO's are back again. If you don't believe me, try this. Make a backup of your log and put it somewhere safe then make a note of how many QSO's are in the log, now make your filter selection click OK then when you go back to the log entry window save the log. Now go back and cancel the filter selection then go back to your log and count the QSO's believe me they will all be there I know because I do this every day and have never lost a QSO. In fact when you make a new or change a filter selection and click OK DX4WIN needs you to do a save or you will loose the changes you have made. Which is exactly what is happening. 73 John ZL1BYZ From: Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ [mailto:f6...@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, 19 February 2016 12:19 To: John Shaw Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Group filter/selection Hi John, As soon as I create a new selection and click OK, the f6gnz log that was opened reduces in size and contains only the selected groups. So, I can't save it under the same name as it would delete all my "All QSO's"... I can save it only under some new name so the original log would not containg the selection.. 73, Radi Le Jeudi 18 février 2016 19h50, John Shaw <zl1...@gmail.com> a écrit : Hi Radi, Do you save the full F6GNZ log after creating the new filter selection, before saving the log with a new name. If you don't then that is why the filter is not there next time you open the full F6ENZ log. The new filter you created needs to be saved in both logs at least once or it will not remain in both logs. 73 John ZL1BYZ From: Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ [mailto:f6...@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, 19 February 2016 06:01 To: John Shaw Cc: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Group filter/selection Hi John, I was intrigued by your conclusion, so I have tried again: - Opened f6gnz log containing all QSO's - Filter -> selection - Add->Replace this name->Clublog - 2 clicks on each of 3 group names - Update -OK -Save log as Clublog, logging window now shows Clublog instead of f6gnz -Filter-> selection - Found Clublog in pull-down list -Update->OK> Save Clublog - Start f6gnz -Filter-> selection: Clublog NOT in pull down list -Close F6GNZ, Open Clublog - Filter->Selection - Clublog in pull-down list Conclusion: PREVIOUS (multiple group) SELECTION NAMES CAN BE RECALLED IN PULL-DOWN LIST ONLY AFTER OPENING THE LOG CONTAINING PREVIOUSLY SELECTED GROUPS. BUT THIS HAS NO USEFULNESS! SELECTION NAMES PREVIOUSLY CREATED FROM THE MAIN LOG (all QSO's), CONTAINING MULTIPLE GROUP NAMES, SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN PULL-DOWN LIST WHEN OPENING THIS MAIN LOG, AFTER HAVING MADE NEW QSO's. THIS WOULD ALLOW PREVIOUS SELECTION'S UPDATE, CONTAINING NEW QSO's MAKING PART OF THIS LOG, WITHOUT NEED TO RUN THROUGH NEW FILTER CREATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE! SAVING THIS NEW LOG UNDER A NEW OR SAME NAME AS THE ONE CONTAINING PREVIOUS SELECTION, WOULD PERMIT TO HAVE UPDATED LOG EACH TIME IT IS NEEDED. Thank you for triggering my curiosity! Once you have setup and saved a group selection and or date filter combination you should be able to go back and chose it again from the list and re use it. Maybe some one else can pick what is been missed? 73 John ZL1BYZ _____ From: Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ [mailto:f6...@yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, 18 February 2016 11:24 To: John Shaw Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Group filter/selection Hi John, This is exactly what I wanted to say: I do NOT find my previous selection at the end of the drop-down list nor anywhere in it, as if I had never made any selection! Only the selections that reflect the group names are available+ All (00) ! 73, Radi F6GNZ Le Mercredi 17 février 2016 18h43, John Shaw <zl1...@gmail.com> a écrit : Radi. When you bring up the selection editor window, at the top it says current selection then just below that is a box which probably says All QSOs, at the right end of that box there is an arrow pointing down. If you click on that arrow a list should drop down with all your previously made selection filters. Do you find the selection filter you had previously made in that list? I am hoping it is as then you just select it from there and click ok. When you don't want that selection you go back and select all QSOs again. Does this help? 73 John ZL1BYZ -----Original Message----- From: DX4WIN [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN Sent: Thursday, 18 February 2016 02:06 To: DX4WIN Reflector; Dx4win Support Subject: [Dx4win] Group filter/selection I have several Group names in my log and under the "Current selection" the same names as names of the groups below are shown and can be chosen. If I want to create a group filter that would include several groups, I click on "Add" ,replace "this name" by the name of the wanted Group, for example "Clublog", and double click on 3-4 wanted group names. After clicking on "Update" and "OK" log reduces it's size and contains only the selected group names. Then, I can save it as "Clublog" and have it ready for exporting. BUT: next time, after making new QSOs, I want to re-create a new "Clublog" group file, containing old and new QSOs . I open my log containing All Groups, select Group Filter and after clicking "Enable Filters" I expect to see "Clublog" name within the proposed "Current selection" names, showing the marked selected groups below. To my surprise, The "Clublog" selection is no more indicated as available. I have to start all the procedure again, "replace this name" by "Clublog", tick wanted groups, Update, OK, save as... WHY? Why the created Group selection is not available after once being created? If several such Groups are to be created and the procedure repeated each time, it is not so practical.
