Art and other LoTW users,
I also heard that ARRL was about to roll out the awards process/procedure
for LOTW.
Here are my LoTW Stats (K4KO, ex WN4M, ex N4WSM)
Oldest LoTW QSL = 23/10/2001 (HA9PP)
WAS confirmed = 47
DXCC confirmed = 67
Total QSOs in LoTW = 9,563
Total QSLs on LoTW = 916
I dabble in contesting, and I think some of the contest crowd might be more
active in LOTW. Still, I have less than 10% return rate and that's with
QSOs since Oct 2001. Not very good in my opinion. I hope it catches on
once the major awards are available via LoTW.
As for how I manage LoTW confirmations... by maintaining a second database
of just LoTW confirmations, which is almost useless. Moreover, it is a pain
in the buttocks managing data/digital mode QSOs using DXBase04.
I create my ADIF files within DXBase04, then manually EDIT the ADIF file to
reflect the data mode QSOs (by S&Ring <MODE:3>FAX with <MODE:4>DATA for my
FSK441 and JT6M etc QSOs), sign the ADIF file using TrustedQSL, then upload
the signed file to LoTW.
THEN, when I download my LoTW report of confirmations (also in ADI format) I
have to again manually edit all of my DATA mode QSOs back to a mode that
DXBase04 recognizes (again, I use FAX). Furthermore, confirmed QSOs with
Canadian stations generally must be edited because the provinces are listed
as states in the downloaded LoTW reports (for example, I must change
<STATE:2>ON to <QTH:2>ON for DXBase04 to import the QSO in a LoTW generated
ADIF file).
As you can imagine, it is a real pain. Surely the next release of DXBase
will include some facility for managing these type data QSOs... won't it?
