DXBase with vista I'm learning/hearing/reading that most programs will install and run ok IF big IF you install them in a different directory than the default that Vista chooses. Instead of installing in Vista's choice, if you can install to D: and create your own directory. also This seems very important You must install from the Administrator This is not the same as having 'Admin' privileges
You must switch USER to Administrator, and do the install from that 'USER'. As always, make copious backups of all DXBase files, reports, add-ons and .mdb files prior to doing the install. I'm assuming this is a NEW computer with Vista. It can be done...I have two computers, my HamRadio only computer and this one I'm writing on, which is Vista Premium I installed DXB into D:/DXB07 copied all the data stuff to that directory and DXBase runs fine. I do NOT have rig control or rotor control running from this Vista machine as all the cables are still attached tot he XP HamRadio Only machine. Good luck. and BTW, you may want to upgrade to the latest DXB version as a lot of Joe's great add-ons like auto LoTW etc work really neat. ----- Original Message ----- From: John To: DXBase Reflector Sent: Monday, October 27, 2008 7:19 AM Subject: [Dxbase] DXbase 2005 and Vista Can anyone please tell me if my DXBase 2005 should work OK with Vista? I have kept up the mapping of prefix changes reasonably well but is there an historical database or file anywhere that I can check it with?
