Can anyone please tell me if my DXBase 2005 should work OK with Vista?
I have kept up the mapping of prefix changes reasonably well but is there an historical database or file anywhere that I can check it with? Thanks, John G3HTA

John,

I have DXBase 2005 on my Vista Premium desktop computer. It installs fine and you can let Vista put it where it wants to. What you will find however, is that Vista doesn't like to keep files that get modified, i.e. "documents" such as the .mdb, in the same directory as the program. For example, mine are located at: C:\Users\Wes\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\DXbase 2005.

That said, I don't do my actual logging from this computer, but instead have a laptop running Win XP in the ham shack for that purpose. I use the desktop with the bigger screen just for record keeping, QSLing, etc. I don't know how it would work for rig control and so forth. Furthermore, I don't use packet, Internet spots, rotor control, rig keying and all of that other stuff.

For this reason, v 2005 does everything I need and I don't have any motivation to upgrade. Regrettably, we orphans get no support when it comes to updating country databases although I've upgraded about five times already, from 2000 on.

Regards,

Wes N7WS
