Thank you Fire Brick and Wes for your kind responses.

 

It looks as though it will be possible to run 2005 on Vista with a little care. 
 DXbase 2005 is fine for all my needs and apart from getting an up to date 
prefix mapping data base in a new version, there is nothing new I need.  It 
would be super if one of Joe's programmes worked on DXbase 2005 as well. 

 

Getting a bit too old now to mess about with new things and as far as possible 
I will stay with what I know.
