This discussion has been going around the N1MM mail for a few days, so thought I'd try it in DXBase. I get the same results, G/K2AA comes up as England; M/K2AA comes up blank for country. Switching it around, I tried K and W with an Italian (K/IR2T and W/IR2T), and both were recognized as USA. I thought maybe it needed clarification, like knowing it was not MI, so tried M2/K2AA, and that comes up as England. But then, why wouldn't K or W or G need the same clarification. I don't know which is right, or wrong, but thought I'd pass this along for thought in DXBase. Keith N5RA

Pete: When I did the contest I was using a prior version than the current 11.5.3. But it was only a couple versions back, November, 2010 version I think. I updated to the newest version (11.5.3) after the contest to see if I could eliminate the problem. I also updated the cty file. No joy. In the N1MM log for these two callsigns the prefix field is blank. I tried adding another M/??? call this morning with the 11.5.3 version but still no prefix decode. Other portable stations I worked decoded just fine. Any hints on where I should be looking? Not a real big problem - the cabrillo file will be OK. Just curious why this doesn't work on the computer.
