Silly stuff Danny!
>Well, I am not going to work a whole day for $100, but I did work one of your >turing images through my >Corel-OCR-TRACE 7 software , a 5 year old ,out of date, ocr program. > >Before doing that I manually removed the thin vertical and horizontal lines, >something which is not difficult to set up programmatically (just >remove all lines >that are only 1 pixel thick), You must be joking --- you think line removal is a trivial subject? Write a routine and try it - see how well it handles not chopping up the subject matter. Even on the most trivial situation, 1 bit images, which Jay presents us with, it is a full-on heuristics problem that would demand a substantial rule based approach -- you'd need to program in maybe a half dozen ad hoc rules to circumvent common problems, and get a reasonable result. > and I quadrupled the size of the image. >Then I brought the 6 digits all on the same level, that is also not >difficult to >program. Nonsense - its very difficult indeed. To begin with, it implicitly means understanding where the objects are -- again, lots of heuristical ad hoc programming to circumvent common problems like touching digits, which Jay includes. >The result is attached. > >This image was processed with OCR trace and within a split second, the result >appeared. >As you can see on the attached screenshot only the 3rd digit was wrongly >recognised as a 5 instead of a 6 > ie, you did it MANUALLY. And failed anyway! >I am even more sorry, but this is nothing for a hacker that is worth his salt. > lol! -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Most of the world's great religions are hijacked from time to time by men who use the religious faith of others to manipulate them for self- serving purposes. Environmentalism is different however. It is not a religion that happens to be manipulated from time to time for political purpose--for the power and money it can bring to its controllers. Environmentalism is a religion which has been deliberately created, for the sole purpose of manipulating its followers." Arthur B.
