Another possibility is that if the price of 
gold generally increases enough, then the 
mining industry will pick up the pace and more 
gold will be produced. Gold isn't a finite 
resource, it's just that with the relatively 
low prices of recent years there isn't much 
incentive to mine it out of the ground due to 
the expenses involved.
