About food purification - I get around a lot of it by buying things 
harvsted locally by people whose paractices I know.

I'm lucky to be able to do this, and I know not everybody can.

BUT - One option to make this easier is a local food distribution 
network.  It serves local producers and consumers better than the 
"normal" distribution system.

I would discuss more about this offline if anyone likes.
