Sell software to spokes ?- Now that's is a really good idea... Why not take it
a step further ?
HUBs could purchase a corporate license of the EDI software, pre-configure all
the templates needed for their complete business cycle, and then distribute
runtimes to enable all non-EDI compliant TPs, especially the smaller, harder to
reach 20/80 bunch!.
This approach would save lots of time and resources now being waisted
promoting, driving, coordinating, testing, and implementing EDI one partner at
a time, one transaction at a time. As we all know this a never ending story
that usually ends up landing only the top 10-20% of TPs anyway!
With the free-EDI HUBs could exchange thousands more transactions via EDI
instead of fax or paper while allowing their TPs to the rip the benefits of EDI
as well: a win-win for all.
Now if we could only get the EDI vendors to get creative with their products
and pricing so that those corporate licenses, free runtimes, and templates can
become a reality..
In the meantime I can't help but wonder: Has any HUB try this approach ?
