Char,

Since you're talking with the Director of Sales and not the Director or
Purchasing, I'm going to presume that you are a vendor of products/services to
the large retail, grocery, health care, petroleum, transportation, utilities or
some other industry in which large organizations do business with vendors like
you.

I suggest that you ask your Director of Sales to name the 10 largest
orgnizations in your marketplace with whom he/she would most like to do
business but is not.

Then, call their Purchasing offices and ask them if they prefer to do business
with their vendors via EDI or other means of communications.

Then, tell your DIrector of Sales that most of the large organizations in the
large busines sectors, like retail and grocery, only buy from vendors who are
EDI capable, because EDI allows them to transmit and receive the documents by
which they conduct business electronically, which saves them a ton of both time
and money.

Then name the companies who would prefer to do business with your company if
your company were EDI capable, based on your research.

You don't need a PPT to explain EDI.

You need a business strategy that will increase your sales, revenue and profit
thru the use of EDI.

If your Director of Sales, or President or CEO doesn't respond with some
interest to find out more about EDI after you explain your proposed business
strategy, presuming you have developed a compelling strategy, you need to find
another company to work for who can use EDI to their advantage.

Good luck,

Subject: [SPAM] [EDI-L] Need a PPT on EDI or EDI for Dummies

I was wondering if anyone has and could please forward me a PPT
presentation about what EDI is. Basically EDI for Dummies without going
into detail about specific EDI softwares. Yes I know what it is and I
have tried to explain it to our Director of Sales but it is as if we
are speaking two different languages and I fear he will never
understand. I speak "geek" and he speaks "would sell my momma for a
penny" and I have been unable to find a translator to bridge the gap
  between our two languages.
I have a little mpeg of the little guy beating his head on his keyboard
until it bleeds, but that's not graphic enough info for him and he
demands more. I have tried going into more detail but he does not
understand FTP, SMTP, sFTP, SSH, AS2 or anything else. So if anyone out
there has simple enough PPT for a "trained monkey" (my analogy of a
sales rep) to understand please forward you would be saving my
overworked self a lot of grief. Yes I checked the files section first
  to no avail.

  Thanks in Advance,
  Char
