I've seen the Seal Number in the REF*SN as well as the TD309. Do a Google search to on the following (including the quotes) to see how others are doing it.

We are currently using 4010VICS for the X12 856 transaction. I have recently discovered that our mapping specs' requirement of our suppliers including the trailer/container seal number in TD309 is not necessarily "legal", as the standards state "NOT USED IN RETAIL INDUSTRY" (which is what we are in). I looked ahead to current standards to see if that restriction had possibly been reversed at some point in subsequent standards versions, but it doesn't look like it has. > > My question is where are others asking for/providing a seal number on the 856? > ------------------------------------ ...
