The real world dictates that your most important customers will often do as 
they please and you will have to deal with it.  However, my previous response 
still stands, something that egregious is likely unintentional and causing 
issues for many, rather than just you, so should be brought to the attention of 
the TP.

EDI Best practices dictate that you should never accept a transaction that uses 
CR, LF or CR/LF as a segment, element or sub-element delimiter. Considering 
this is a function of translator/trading partner set-up you can request that 
the trading partner changes the delimiters to something less likely to appear 
in the file for other purposes. Given a choice I like the printable characters 
^ and | because they make the raw data easier to read.
