Don't look so suprised that old systems "live" longer than you or I might think 
they should following a merger or acquisition.

This past week I started consulting to the 'buyer' of one of my clients who is 
just starting to merge the EDI systems. (Which BTW
makes perfect business sense as you point out).

This client?  They bought my existing client in August 2007.

But... I have another client who is often a "buyer."  They have completely 
taken over EDI operations  for four or five acquisitions 
within a
year or two of purchase.
