the early 1990's and it has clearly changed, with less of
the "Ed", and ever more of the "Stat". However, the quality
of postings has remained high, and this is obviously due in
part to the hard work of the moderator and the vigorous watch
over spam. Without a moderator/listowner this would not be
possible, and we would be left with no choice but to discontinue. However, in expressing my thanks to the present list owner for
the work of maintaining it, I also hope that it can be continued,
and that someone will come forward to take on the thankless task.
A good e-mail subscription is a rare delight, especially when it comes to you packaged in digest format. Personally, I never venture into the newgroups anymore although I have done so in the past a great deal - that is the jungle, a wild free-for-all compared to the trickle of distilled information you get by subscription!
