Thanks for that information. I think I messed up my
experiments yesterday. I saw the driver 'hdaudio' attached
even after I added 'audiohd'. Is it correct that 'hdaudio' is
actually the name of the oss driver ?
If that is the case I haven't even tried the audiohd yet.
There is another driver under:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/device_drivers/files/
audiohd-2008-08-25.tar.gz
I wonder how 2008-08-12 is different from 2008-08-25 ? Also in nv96 when
I pkg installed audiohd I got a driver with the date "2008-08-25"
Anyway I will try the 2008-08-12 version.

Could the 701 have a different webcam than in my 900 ?
I assume you are using the newer usbvc (nv96 or later) and can see in dmesg or
/var/adm/messages that usbvc gets attached to the webcam.
If that is the case you can try my capture program I will send you in a
separate e-mail.
In tcsh/csh do the following:
chmod ug+x my_capture_cam_eeepc
## First try:
./my_capture_cam_eeepc -check
## If that gives you some output that looks valid do
set wi=320
set hi=240
./my_capture_cam_eeepc -form YUY -cap -wi $wi -he $hi > image.yuyv
There are various ways of viewing yuyv.
You may not have the converters. I have some programs I can send
you if it works. I usually do:
cat image.yuyv | yuyv2rgb $wi $hi | rawtoppm -rgb $wi $hi | xv -
If you have mplayer installed you could try viewing live video by:
./my_capture_cam_eeepc -wi $wi -he $hi -form YUYV -stream -frame 300 -stdout |
mplayer -framedrop -fps 7 -demuxer rawvideo -rawvideo
w=${wi}:h=${hi}:format=yuy2 -ao NULL -
Hope it helps,
/Karl
