Hi, External monitor works fine out of the box thanks to the inclusion of the Xrandr X11 extension. I just tried connecting projectors to the external vga connector. Xrandr relies on auto detecting the EDID data the monitor sends out. See 'man xrandr'
What I do is: 1. Plug in the projector and switch it on. (Keep you eeePC up in Gnome the whole time) 2. To check the formats detected by X run % xrandr --prop % xrandr -q Look for the VGA section, typically there may be "1024x768" reported from EDID or "1280x1024" 3. start the vga output using any of the resolutions reported in (2): % xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x768 or % xrandr --output VGA --mode 1280x960 Now you will see the display both on the EeePC LVDS and the projector. 4. To switch off the vga output simply run: % xrandr --output VGA --off At this step the LDVS also automatically switches back to its original reolution. All this works out of the box and without an Xorg.conf file. More fine tunings I suppose require that you create an Xorg.conf file. If the monitor does not send out EDID data you probably need to create an Xorg.conf files as well. So... WiFi works with atheros-0.7.3 Webcam works out of the box Audio with the audiohd-2008-08-25 drivers Ethernet is still missing... but it's starting to look like the EeePC900 is a real Solaris beast. :) Next step is to try external monitor! Does anyone know if or when audiohd will support suspend to ram (S3) ? Yep - audiohd from http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/device_drivers/files/audiohd-2008-08-12.tar.gz will suspend to ram. And according to http://gdamore.blogspot.com/2008/09/audiohd-pushed.html it's been pushed into nv_98. Still no joy for webcam support on my 701 running 2008.11 nv_97 bits... Any idea how I go about debugging this?
