You should connect the red nic directly to the dsl modem, setting it for dhcp, using the IP range 192.168.1.x, (which is what the dsl modem likes) and also using whatever cable works - normal cable or crossover cable. Try a normal cable first.
You should then connect the green nic to the Internet/WAN port of the WRT54G2 using an unused address range, for example, 192.168.5.x, also using whatever cable works. Then the WRT54G2 needs to use two more unused address ranges.
