You shouldn't disable DHCP for the lan sides (wired or wireless) of the WRT54G2 - all clients connecting will be better off using it.
For the WAN side of the WRT54G2, set the WRT54G2 to use dhcp to obtain an address from the efw, and enable dhcp for the green nic of the efw. That will set up the link between the two. Sounds like you've done some of that already...
