George, A#1: There is nothing wrong with 750 Hz if that suits your ears better. Most of us feel that is too high for comfort. In fact, that pitch was 'forced' on us by earlier transceivers that tried to use the same BFO crystal for both SSB and CW. Thankfully, the K2 and K1 give us a choice. Just be certain to do all your filter alignment around the higher pitch or you may find your more narrow filters unusable.
