DC regulators have limited efficiency, take space and can generates hash. The
diodes lose 10% of energy when connected, and 0% when disconnected. The
DC-DC converters have stated 80-90% efficiency so they will lose more energy
than the diodes. No gains only losses.

The biggest problems with the connector using the diodes is small size,
which makes it easy to lose if not careful.
