Pretty much the same effect can be had with styrofoam peanuts if they are bagged, such as with lightweight kitchen trash bags. Conformal packing without the mess.  I'll never understand why companies ship with loose peanuts.

Then the remainder of the box was filled with the same expanding spray foam. Totally secure - nothing could move in any direction.
