What I need is a keyer with a spell checker. Does the K3 keyer have a spell checker?

Almost.

The K3, as has been mentioned has a digital mode encode/decode feature that lets you operate digital modes without a computer. One of the things that you can do is send CW with the paddle and have the K3 convert it into RTTY or PSK for you. I recently had my first RTTY QSO since 1982 this way!

When you do this, what you send scrolls by on the K3's display. If your spelling or CW spacing is not so good, you can see it!
