I now have version 1.96/1/73 and still having this problem. I have just finished building the XG1 test oscillator and have checked the S-meter calibration. 1uV shows S3 and 50uV shows S9, sometimes S9+5 with both 1.78/1.58 and the 1.96/173 firmware versions. So the calibration doesn't seem to be the problem. Right now the S-meter is pretty well useless on a band with real strong signals.
