Fact: Most people, most Mac developers and most open source projects
don't refer to applications as, say, "NetNewsWire.app", "Adium.app" or
"VLC.app".

I'm hard pressed to name a single one that actually does so out of
their own free will; I think we're spoiled by talking about mail
clients, where "Mail.app" has become one way of differentiating Apple
Mail.

Hopefully the variability to the product name itself will be
minimized. This issue is an obstruction, but I want it resolved, not
postponed. I also want it resolved not by voting but by strength of
argument. (Or by ruling.)
