Not to sound overly harsh, but too bad for them. Those people are not the target audience for Letters. From the Letters vision document (emphasis added):

Letters is a lean and programmable IMAP email client, with plugin
and automation APIs, *designed for developers and power users*.

The default*has* to be styled/html or we will see people
complaining about how Letters can only send 'ugly plain text' and
getting a bad rap from users.

I know that whichever default is chosen can still be changed. That's not the point, in my mind. If plain text is not the default, then it will invariably be neglected with respect to any bugs or other shortcomings. It will quickly become a second-class citizen. I have seen this happen most recently with Postbox, which uses HTML as its default for new messages.

Just go with the flow, right? Whether true or not, this is a weak argument. By the same logic, we should all get rid of our Macs and switch to Windows-based PCs, since that's "what everyone else is using", right? It doesn't matter if "the fight was lost ages ago". You can still choose to do the right thing.
