Hi Rod, I think Evie may be correct. Try Zapping the PRAM first, as this may reset the power manager. Use Tech Tool or Tech Tool Pro if you have them, or hold Command-Option-P-R keys down immediately (within 5-10 seconds) the startup bong after you start from off. If this does not work, Shut down the computer, unplug the AC adaptor and unplug the battery, press and hold the reset button on the back of the computor for about 45 seconds. Then attach the AC adaptor (but don't insert the battery) and press the reset button again. If it does not start, then you can start the computer in the usual manner. You can re-insert the battery after restarting the powerbook. There is also an instruction in your manual if you still have it around. Note that this will erase a RAM disk if you have one.
