This looks like a styled text issue: you probably noticed that in OS X
styled text is everywhere (depending on where it was copied, pasted text
in fields like browsers address, file names etc. often appear styled at
first, and sometimes text copied from interface elements like lists is
styled too).

Styled text is probably OK to display using AppleScript (handled by the
OS), but it may not get parsed for non-display routines which would then
get raw data.

Now of course if it IS styled text, it can probably be considered a bug
in iPhoto, since I can't see a reason why there should be from your
script.

Not "false sense": if a 2-script setup worked, it could as well stay so
forever (no need to throw extra sweat at merging the 2 scripts just to
find that you must redo the opposite next time you want to tweak it).

OOOOOHHH that's frustrating. I just wasted a full sandwich worth of time
on that: the open command only works from within Emailer (try the exact
same script from Emailer or OSA Menu scripts menus).

Even telling Emailer to activate first (like is needed for simulated menu
commands) won't cut it: it won't work from Smile and probably anywhere
outside Emailer. I tried everything (using terms from, double tell,
delay, etc.)

A sandwich lasts approximately half a pizza.
