I also have most of my spam sent to a "Spam" folder. And while I agree 
that it seems as though it shouldn't make a difference, I find it to be 
much faster to check for the one or two non-spam messages this way.  I 
get 50 or so spams per day, and it takes but a few seconds to pull out 
the stuff I want and move it to another folder.
