I just looked at Emailer on Mac OS 7.61 & OSX. 
In  7.61, in the "Browse" window, at the top left the View folder menu 
has a black triangle pointing down to indicate it's a pull down menu. 
Same thing in the "Outgoing Message" window, top right; "send via". 

In Mac OS 9 and above (I forget what it was in 8) that triangle becomes a 
line with a dongle, could easily be a window blind with pull string. 

I suspect that this is a system thing, as the system controls what the 
interface elements look like. So don't worry about it.
