These are rare, isolated reports which are magnified by the lack of 
succesfull reports. After all, people rarely report no problems. IIRC, 
most of the problems were resolved.

Running Emailer 2.0.3 under the latest OS X (10.2.8) with zero problems. 
Actually Panther is the latest OS X (10.3), but I'm waiting for 10.3.1 
before I purchase.

Glad you are running a system that makes you happy, but go ahead and 
install OS X and play with it. You can always reboot into OS 9.
