I have a strange problem that I don't think has been canvassed here yet: Emailer sometimes runs very slowly in Classic.
Usually Emailer runs OK for a few hours and then suddenly runs slowly: updating the windows, checking mail, searching the database and the rest all take so much time that I can see Emailer/Classic redraw the tool bar buttons one by one and construct the windows bit by bit. Keystrokes and mouse clicks are recognised immediately but Emailer is very slow about doing what it's told. I haven't really checked other Classic applications for speed, however the Classic app Process Watcher shows nothing out of the ordinary and Mac OS X's Process Viewer doesn't show an unusual load on the CPU. Gratuitously quitting apps and killing processes has no effect. Restarting Classic has no effect. The only cure is to log out and log back in again. A restart is unnecessary. I've seen this only recently on an iBook with 10.2.6 and a dual 1 GHz G4 with 10.2.8. My iMac 333 MHz running 10.2.6 does not show this problem. Which makes me think that perhaps it's related to something I recently installed on the iBook and G4 (OSXvnc 1.3?) - but I can't think of anything that should be affected by logging out and logging back in again. Does anyone else see this problem in Classic?
