The OS I am currently on is Apple's latest: 10.4.7.

I have to be honest with you. If you are on 10.4.7, you should really take a look at some of the OS X native email clients out there. Are they Emailer? Heck no, but some of them are good, and Emailer is getting closer and closer to final death.

If you go with Emailer, be aware that you will have problems using it on an Intel based Mac, so if you plan to get a new Mac any time in the near future, that would mean either moving back off Emailer, or jumping thru some of the hoops to get it going on Intel (it is possible, I have successfully run it on Intel OS X, but it isn't as clean as I would like, and I found it not worth the effort compared to just moving to an OS X native client).

I also have not seen confirmation if Classic will be present in PPC version 10.5. Some of the early rumors say it will be, but I have not yet seen one that confirms it since Leopard was released on Monday. If it is dropped, then that gives you even more of a dead end coming up.

So as much as I'm going to get burned at the stake as a heretic for saying this... I do recommend that your best course of action is to look at a mail client with a little better future than Emailer appears to have.
