Listers, help!! Please help!

For the last two days (yesterday and today) I've had to use
my ISP's webmailer since my CE -- for the first time since
I started using it over ten years ago -- is unusable!

When I try to pick up email (I have two addresses, both
from the same ISP), I get log messages, one for each
address. They both say the same thing: "couldn't complete
the last command because an unknown error occurred." The
error number given for my primary address (this one) is
-3216. My other address gets -3205.

Now, this has sort of happened before, but only when my ISP
has been experiencing difficulties with the mail server --
when they fixed it, I was able to use CE again. I know my
ISP's mail server is not the problem this time because I'm
able to check and send email from webmailer. This business
with CE not working but being able to use the webmailer has
been going on since yesterday.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, does it --
but when I've been trying unsuccessfully to check email the
last two days, I've been doing it in Classic Mode under
Tiger 10.4.8 -- and I also just picked up the two new Tiger
security updates via Software Update over the
weekend.......

Please help me, I don't want to have to use Mail.app!!
