-  You might check if the Firewall in Mac OS X is disabled.
At least for a few minutes test, I suggest you disable is.

- Can you webmail at THE SAME computer as where CE resides.

- So, do you have connection ?  Can you open terminal and PING 194.7.1.4 ?

- Is it possible that your ISP following a merger maybe changed some 
brandnames, and went to change the name of a popserver ?

- Can you separate the problem into incoming mail and outgoing mail ?
  If you disable GET MAIL, then can you test and positively SEND a test 
mail out ?

I should go to sleep for now.. It's 1:30 am here..
but we'll get this resolved as this list gets 24/24 around the globe 
coverage...
